The Medico-Legal Society of Toronto Award
The Medico-Legal Society of Toronto Award is the highest expression of esteem that the Society can convey to a recipient.
This award honours members of the healthcare, legal, or scientific community who have made a significant contribution to their profession, the Society, or the community at large, and whose contributions are consistent with the Society’s values.
This year, nominations will be accepted for individuals in the healthcare profession.
The MLST Dr. Grant Farrow Award was created in honour of Dr. Grant Farrow, a long-standing member of the Society and a renowned urological surgeon and teacher. He exemplified the best traditions of the Society, including professional excellence, civility, and collegiality between the healthcare and legal professions.
This award recognizes a young or mid-career member of the Society who has made outstanding contributions to the Society, their profession, or the community at large.
Nominees must be members of MLST in good standing for a minimum of two years and be considered to be in the early or mid-career stage of their profession.
This year, nominations will be accepted for individuals in the legal profession.
The MLST Philippa Samworth Award was created in honour of Philippa Samworth, a respected member of the legal community who has earned a stellar reputation in the insurance defence and personal injury bar as a fierce advocate for her clients. She is known for her sharp intellect, passion for justice and fairness, and her willingness to share knowledge with colleagues across the profession.
This award recognizes an MLST member for sustained and exceptional dedication and commitment to the Society, and to its objective of advancing medico-legal knowledge for the benefit of both the healthcare and legal professions, and in the interests of patients, clients, and justice.
There is no obligation for the Society to confer the award in any fiscal year.
